The Art Hour
Multimedia Art Class
Thursdays 12:45-1:45pm & 2:00-3:00pm
Join me on a marvelous journey of artistic discovery! As an instructor, I'm determined to shake up your creativity by exploring different art forms, from watercolors to pastels to canvas paint, and more! The best part? We'll celebrate the fact that every single individual holds a unique voice and style. As the semester progresses, your child will learn how to mix colors, apply brushstrokes, and receive step-by-step how-to’s, to transform their imagination into a work of art! Every stroke builds up to a beautiful masterpiece, which means your child will feel accomplished and proud at the end of each class.
Marine Life Studies
Science
Thursdays 11:30-12:30pm
This course consists of interactive presentations about marine species as well as the opportunity to engage in discussions about life in the oceans. It will teach the entire introduction to marine biology curriculum. In our presentations, we will also provide a comprehensive overview of general characteristics, habitat, adaptations, conservation and fun facts, involving students throughout the lesson. We also use a variety of media such as pictures, recordings of the animals, and virtual visits to natural sanctuaries to present the material.
The Road to Revolution
American History
Thursdays at 3:00-4:00pm
In order to better understand the American Revolution, students will adopt a colonist identity and experience events like the tea act, the stamp act, and the Boston Tea Party. They will truly feel the struggle of "taxation without representation." Students also participate in Continental Congresses, where they decide how to respond to the taxes. Will your students sign a Declaration of Independence? Or stay loyal to the crown?
World Geography
Social Studies/Geography
Thursdays at 10:30-11:30am
This class is intended to equip and provide learners with foundational skills needed in a globalized world. Students will gain an understanding of different concepts in geography (with emphasis on physical geography). They will sharpen their map reading skills, identify the world's oceans and significant water bodies, landforms, biomes, and more. To encourage independent exploration of the week's topic, I provide optional activities and projects to complete outside class time. Students are welcome to show or share their projects in class. Lessons will involve a slideshow presentation with questions and opportunities for students to express their opinions respectfully. My teaching style is engaging and interactive. I like to foster inquiry-based learning habits by encouraging students to ask questions and actively participate in their learning. Where possible, we will play a review game before class ends.
